A Study on How Effectively PITR Test Can Measure Elementary Students¡¯ Stress Level

Abstract
This study purports to grasp the relationship between academic stress of elementary students and their reaction characteristics on PITR test. The study subjects are a total of 610 elementary students, who are in 4th, 5th and 6th grade, the study tools are the Scale of Academic Stress and the PITR test. Data collection was performed from December 10th through December 28th of 2012, and data analysis was carried out by use of SPSS WIN 18.0 Program. The study results are as follows. First, there has been a significant difference on academic stress from the school, but no significant difference on stress from private academics. According to gender distinction, female students get more stress than males on school academics whereas male students feel more stress than females on private academics. Second, correlation between school academic stress and stress reaction to PITR shows a statistical significance on 12 items out of a total of 17 items. Correlation between school academic stress and stress reaction to PITR displays a statistical significance on 8 out of 12 items. As to correlation between private academic stress and PITR stress reaction, a statistical significance appears on 10 items out of a total of 17 items. Correlation between private academic stress and coping resource of PITR stress reaction tells a statistical significance on 6 out of 12 items. Consequently, the PITR test would suggest itself as possibilities of a counseling tool as well as discriminator to check the academic stress levels of elementary students.
